U of MN agriculture education openings and a phone call from the school administration.

Please describe your job:
I attempt to educate high school students on all the facets of agriculture. In addition, I am in the process of developing the FFA chapter and developing curriculum for this first year Ag education program and FFA Chapter.

What from your undergraduate educational experience was most helpful in preparing you for this career?
The most valuable undergraduate experiences were involvement in campus organizations such as Alpha Gammma Rho, Ag-Ed club, and Ag ambassadors. In addition, the ability to study and travel all over the world greatly adds the depth college experience. Finally the student teaching experience is the closest thing to the real thing and would be extremely valuable to anyone.

What is the biggest misconception about this occupation or field?
Most people feel that if you can't do, you should teach. Teaching may not get you rich monetarily but impacting the lives of youth to make a better future in agriculture is a very rewarding career.

What advice do you have for current students?
Get and stay involved in your area of study. The more active you are the more people will know who YOU are!
