Applied Plant Science

Are you interested in improving the quality of plants and plant products?  Do you like science?  Are you interested in learning how genetic engineering can improve the nutritional value of crops?  Are you curious about how plants interact with and respond to their environment? 

An Applied Plant Science major prepares you for a career in helping producers of food, feed and fiber crops continue to feed a growing population while conserving natural resources and protecting the environment; studying ways to improve the nutritional value of crops and the quality of seed; or developing ways to improve crops resistant to pests and drought. 

Applied Plant Science graduates typically work as agronomists, crop scientists, biotechnologists, entomologists, educators, and researchers.
