How did you find this job?
I found my job through a healthcare design specific recruiter.
I manage projects in the healthcare field from planning, through design and construction documents, and finally to construction. Most days are spent behind the computer, either drafting or doing project correspondence. Client meetings are critical during most stages of the project.
The critical thinking exercises we did as part of the studio curriculum come in to use consistently during all phases of projects. The history classes aid as inspiration during design. Any comprehensive writing skills are essential.
One misconception is that all architects are not "designers”. There are as many architects practicing who are only interested in the technical aspects of construction and the successful execution of a project, not in its aesthetic quality, necessarily.
Never underestimate ANY of the skills you have picked up. Even knowing how to use word processing or graphic arts software can get you at least entry level in a firm. But, if they are intent on getting far in the design industry, a Master's degree is becoming more and more of a necessity.
