Clothing Design

Are you interested in designing and creating clothing and accessories?  Are you interested in functional uses of clothing for such things as sports, outdoor activities, uniforms, etc.?  Are you curious about the behind-the-scenes activity involved in producing clothing?  Do you enjoy sewing and working with fabrics and textiles?

A Clothing Design major prepares you for a career in producing and marketing clothing products, using both manual and computer design methods.  Career paths include working in quality assurance to ensure clothing is produced with consistent quality in terms of color, fabric, size and construction, designing adaptive clothing for the physically challenged and the elderly, and creating specialty items, such as caps, bags, life jackets, and sports-related apparel.

Clothing Design graduates typically work as production managers or coordinators, designers or assistant designers, patternmakers, quality assurance professionals, and costume designers.
