Food Science

Do you like science? Would you like to help research solutions to food-related problems? Are you interested in creating new food products and making current products more stable, nutritious, convenient, reliable and safe?

A Food Science major prepares you for a career in managing food production and processing facilities; designing, researching and developing new food products; researching and monitoring the microbiological safety of foods; and overseeing the   processing of safe, nutritious and attractive foods to be packaged and distributed to meet the needs of consumers.

Food Science graduates typically work as food operations/production managers, product development technologists, quality control scientists, food engineers and food microbiologists.
