Do you value and enjoy helping people?  Do you have an interest in understanding your own personal relationships as well as those of others?  Would you like to support and encourage healthy family functioning?  Do you enjoy volunteer work that serves the community?

A Family Social Science major prepares you for a career in improving the quality of life for people experiencing societal problems (such as poverty and homelessness) and family-related issues (such as substance and domestic abuse and parent-child relationships).  Other career paths include working in settings related to mental health, correctional, and gerontological services.

Family Social Science graduates typically work as youth counselors, community advocates, case management counselors, chemical dependency counselors,  family crisis workers, disability specialists, elder services administrators, or financial counselors.
