Job Offers and Salary Negotiation

View our online salary negotiation workshop at http://www.stpaulcareers.umn.edu/workshops.html.

Getting a job offer is often one of the most exciting moments for students as they graduate from college.  Knowing you will be able to pay bills and have insurance can lift a big weight off of your shoulders. Never-the-less, we encourage undergraduate and graduate students to slow down and be very thoughtful about any job offer before saying yes.

There are many things to review and consider about an organization, position and offer before you commit.  This moment is also your best opportunity to negotiate for a higher salary.  This section of our web site will cover the key things you should know before accepting a job offer and will give you tips on how to handle multiple job offers.  It also includes information on researching salaries and negotiating a job offer.

Click on the above links Managing Job Offers, Salary Negotiation and Salary Statistics to gather thorough information before accepting any job offer or negotiating a salary.  If you read this material and still have questions, please contact the St. Paul Campus Career Center at 612-624-2710 to get individual assistance from a career professional.
