How did you find this job?
I found this position through a web link that an internship boss provided.

Please describe your job:
I over see our residential energy testing program and answer any questions regarding green building, stormwater, and wetlands. I also teach classes during our education season on green building. Managing three committees is an ongoing duty as well.

What from your undergraduate educational experience was most helpful in preparing you for this career?
Any course I ever took help to prepare me for any future job I took because they each taught me something different. Whether it was in the specific course content or simply doing the work, everything helped.

What is the biggest misconception about this occupation or field?
The field I am in now is so different than what I went to school for because a lot of it focuses on the materials, codes and structure of green building. My major only took a small role in preparing me for this position.

What advice do you have for current students?
When looking for a job do your best to find a job that fits you at the place you are at in life. Do not take the first job you get if it does not feel right. I turned down three jobs before I found one that fit me at the time. Always remember you will grow and move out of your first job with in the first couple of years after graduating.
